Centennial College Continuing Education Research Literacy For Complementary And Alternative Health Care Practitioners Course code: THER-705
WINTER 2006 – Next course begins January 2007
This innovative, 12-week online course is designed to help complementary and alternative health care (CAHC) practitioners (chiropractors, massage therapists, herbalists, naturopathic doctors, homeopaths, TCM practitioners) to develop basic and effective strategies to access, understand, and critically evaluate research evidence for application in professional practice. Utilizing self-reflection, critical thinking, and problem-based learning, this course is intended to foster lively, respectful and supportive online interactions between students, as well as with the instructors, to help create a virtual community of practice. Students learn to effectively search online databases, find and critically evaluate peer-reviewed research papers and apply their learning to client/patient care. Students taking part in this course may also be asked to participate in ongoing research on online learning and the transfer of knowledge to practice.

Researcher Networks Canadian Interdisciplinary Network for CAM Research (IN-CAM)
Launched in January 2004, IN-CAM's two primary objectives are to build research capacity and facilitate interdisciplinary CAM research in Canada, particularly from the perspective of health services or social science. Offers searchable members database, bi-monthly e-bulletin, networking opportunities and an annual research symposium. Free membership. Canadian Pediatric Complementary and Alternative Medicine Network (PedCAM) A new network to link pediatric CAM researchers and educators. Free membership provides access to online searchable database of members, bi-monthly bulletin and an annual research forum.
