Aldo Dominguez

Named in memory of Aldo Dominguez and his pioneering vision and philosophy of wellness, the Aldo Fund has been established as an annual fund for natural and integrative cancer research and education, in partnership with the Holistic Health Research Foundation of Canada.
The goal of the Aldo Fund is to bring together the natural health community -- the public, health professionals, natural health product manufacturers and retailers -- to support this groundbreaking initiative focused on complementary and alternative cancer therapies.
Monies raised through the Aldo Fund will support the CAMpaign for Cancer initiative of the Holistic Health Research Foundation of Canada, with a focus on advancing our scientific understanding of the role complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), including natural health products, can play in the prevention and treatment of cancers. This initiatve includes the establishment of an annual research competition (beginning in late 2008/early 2009), open to all qualified researchers at academic institutions across Canada. A portion of the funds raised have also supported The Cancer Continuum, an educational event held in October 2007 at the University of Toronto.
To date, close to $80,000 has been raised towards our Phase I goal of $150,000 but we need your help to reach our target!

About Aldo
A true pioneer in the natural health products sector in Canada, Aldo Dominguez opened the first Nutrition House store in 1979 in Ontario. Aldo passed away on January 12, 2004, five months after being diagnosed with lymphoma. During his journey with cancer -- as he did throughout his life -- Aldo exuded a passion for living and a generosity of spirit that goes unmatched. In 2007, Aldo was inducted posthumously into the Canadian Health Food Association's Hall of Fame, recognized for setting the standard for ethics and education in the natural health sector. He will forever be remembered for making the world a better place.
