Canadian CAM Research Fund

, is pleased to announce the official launch of the Canadian
CAM
Research Fund. We are now inviting research proposal application submissions.
ABOUT THE CANADIAN
CAM
RESEARCH FUND (CCRF):
The CCRF grant competition will be held annually, with invitations for submission of research proposals announced in mid-September and deadline for applications in mid-December.
This competition will replace IN-CAM’s Pilot Research Funding Competition and will be separate from Holistic Health Research Foundation’s Massage Therapy Research Fund competition and other research competitions. The CCRF will be administered through the Holistic Health Research Foundation of Canada.
Purpose and research priorities:
The primary goal of the CCRF is to increase and enhance
CAM
research capacity in
Canada
by supporting and funding relevant and high caliber studies that are in line with at least one of the following research priorities:
1)
Efficacy, effectiveness and/or safety of
CAM
interventions (products, independent modalities and practices)
2)
Evaluation of health care delivery models that incorporate
CAM
3)
Development and evaluation/assessment of
CAM
specific policies in the context of health care delivery in
Canada
4)
Effectiveness and/or usefulness of knowledge translation activities related to
CAM
information dissemination (to public, practitioners, etc.)
This grant will be available to:
1)
Established Canadian
CAM
researchers affiliated with academic institutions in
Canada
2)
New researchers and trainees in the
CAM
field who are completing MSc and PhD level thesis projects at a Canadian university
Priority will be given to projects that involve collaborations between
CAM
practitioners and researchers.
2009 CANADIAN
CAM
RESEARCH FUND GRANT COMPETITION:
The CCRF is now inviting applications in the priority research areas indicated above.
For 2009, a total funding amount of $20,000 is offered.
A maximum of $5,000 per project will awarded to a maximum of 4 high quality research projects, based on the recommendation of the appointed Review Committee.
Application deadline
December 15, 2009 at 5pm MST.
All applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by March 15, 2010.
Review Process
All applications will undergo an independent peer review by the Review Committee composed of researchers with knowledge and experience specific to the subject of the applications received. All applicants will be informed via an e-mailed letter of the Review Committee’s decision regarding their submission. Applicants whose projects are not selected will receive constructive feedback and guidance for improvement wherever possible. Reviewers' names will be published at the time of announcing grant award recipients.

1. An electronic version of the complete application package must be e-mailed by December 15, 2009 5pm MST to the Research Competition Coordinator at: akania@ucalgary.ca
